Tax Relief

The Assembly Minority Conference has led the fight for tax relief to ensure our families aren’t overburdened by taxes.

By delivering property tax rebate checks, ending the marriage penalty and eliminating the State sales tax on clothing and footwear costing under $110, the Assembly Minority Conference has led the fight to make tax relief a reality.

The Assembly Minority Conference has also fought for these fiscally responsible policies:

  • Double STAR benefits for homeowners

  • Restrict unfunded mandates that drive up county property taxes

  • Expand STAR benefits to reduce county property taxes

  • Crack down on waste, fraud and abuse in the Medicaid program to save taxpayers $4.5 billion annually

Job Creation

Transforming our State’s economy so it offers more opportunities for all New Yorkers has been one of the Assembly Minority Conference’s top priorities.

By growing New York’s economy, we’ll help keep families together by ensuring our best and brightest have access to good-paying jobs and can stay here.

  • Invest in high-tech manufacturing along with cutting edge bio-tech and nano-tech research and development

  • Cut burdensome governmental regulations and bureaucratic red tape that drive employers away

  • Provide every child a first-class education that prepares them for the 21st century workforce

  • Support the use and development of alternative fuels

  • Eliminate the Corporate Franchise Tax for manufacturers to create and retain jobs

Public Safety

police
The first obligation of government is to provide for the safety and security of its citizens.

That’s why the Assembly Minority Conference supports efforts to help make New Yorkers more safe and secure. Here’s how:

  • Give police officers and prosecutors the tools they need to fight the war on terror and prevent future attacks

  • Support efforts to get illegal guns off our streets and the death penalty for cop killers and terrorists

  • Civilly confine predators and prevent them from living within 1,000 feet of a school, park, daycare or playground
