Statement From New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua) On Stopping The Proposed New York State Thruway Toll Hike

"Today's announcement that the Thruway Authority is finally hitting the brakes on their proposed 5th toll hike since 2004 is a huge victory for the people and businesses of New York State. This costly burden should never have been considered as a band-aid to correct the lack of accountability and fiscal irresponsibility of the Thruway Authority.

Now is the time to focus on positive solutions, which is why I have introduced legislation - the "Thruway Authority Accountability Act" - which would restore accountability, increase efficiency and save taxpayer dollars. By enacting long-term, viable, common-sense solutions we can prevent the Thruway Authority from traveling down this dead end road again and instead ensure that New York State is actually open for business.

It is our duty as elected officials to find permanent solutions, fix the problems and make changes to government that will benefit and protect small businesses and taxpayers."
