Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I,Ref-Canandaigua) Opens The 2017 Legislative Session
Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I,Ref-Canandaigua) today delivered remarks to open the 2017 Legislative Session. While addressing the full Assembly, Leader Kolb reinforced the importance of the Legislature's role in state government and outlined a number of priority issues that the Assembly Minority Conference will seek to advance this year. Among the legislative proposals Leader Kolb referenced are:
- Ensuring funds are made available allowing direct care workers to be paid a fair wage;
- Bringing Uber, Lyft and other ride-sharing services to Upstate New York;
- Lowering the extreme financial burdens Albany places on residents, businesses and municipalities;
- Implementing greater oversight and safeguards to ensure taxpayer-funded economic development programs are operating effectively; and
- Creating a registry of violent felony offenders by passing Brittany's Law, to help curb domestic violence.
