Silver Appoints Magnarelli As New Ethics And Guidance Committee Chair

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver today named William Magnarelli chair of the Assembly Ethics and Guidance Committee.

"Bill Magnarelli is known in the Assembly Majority for his broad range of community involvement and his strong advocacy for Syracuse and Central New York," Silver said. "I know that his focus on getting results and serving the people of New York will make him an excellent chair of the Ethics and Guidance Committee."

"The work of the Ethics and Guidance Committee is central to setting and maintaining high standards of integrity," Magnarelli said. "I am honored to be selected as the next Committee chair and I am committed to providing strong leadership on these very important matters."

Magnarelli will also serve as Co-Chair of the Legislative Ethics Committee.

Magnarelli is currently serving his tenth year in the Assembly, representing the 120th District in Onondaga County including part of the city of Syracuse. In the Assembly, he has previously served as the Chair of the Legislative Commission on Science and Technology, Chair of the Legislative Task Force on University-Industry Cooperation, and on the Majority Steering Committee.
