Statement From Speaker Silver On Attorney General's Lawsuit Against Rector Square Developer

I am extremely encouraged that the Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against the developer of 225 Rector St., whose residents have been subjected to a string of broken promises and constant uncertainty over the future of their homes. When this building was foreclosed on last year, I immediately brought together residents and Anglo Irish Bank to ensure that vital services, such as heat, electricity and basic maintenance were provided while the foreclosure case against Yair Levy proceeded. We were able to keep people in their homes and bring them much-needed stability. This lawsuit by the Attorney General will help put the condo back on sound financial footing and return to residents the value of their investments and the peace of mind that was taken from them.
