Budget Highlights

The Office of the Inspector General is responsible for investigating instances of fraud, abuse, criminal activity, and corruption in State agencies and certain public authorities. The agency is included in the Public Protection and General Government appropriation bill.

State Operations

The Executive recommends an All Funds appropriation in the amount of $5,910,000 reflecting a $456,000 reduction or 7.16 percent change from State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2002-03 funding level. The State Operations General Funds appropriation of $4,300,000 reflects a $667,000 or 13.43 percent reduction from SFY 2002-03 funding level. This net decrease in funding reflects salary adjustments, elimination of vacant positions, continuation of the hiring freeze, and lower costs associated with the agency operations.

This amount reflects an increase of $211,000 or 15.08 percent from the SFY 2002-03 funding level, including salary adjustments, increases in sub-allocations from Special Revenue - Other supported agencies, and other costs associated with the agency operations.
