YOUTH PROGRAM (excluding Statewide Activities)
PROGRAM INFORMATION
POPULATION SERVED: In-school and out-of-school low-income youth with barriers to employment (up to 5 percent of the youth serviced do not have to meet the income eligibility requirements)
SERVICES PROVIDED: Ten required program elements, including academic, occupational skills training, employment opportunities and supportive services must be made available to youth participants
ADMINISTRATIVE AGENCY: Department of Labor
ELIGIBLE SERVICE PROVIDERS: The 33 Workforce Investment Act Local Areas in New York State, who, in most instances, must subcontract to providers of employment and training services.
SOURCE OF FUNDING: Federal
AUTHORIZATION: Federal Statute: Workforce Investment Act of 1998, Public Law 105-220
DESCRIPTION: Provides training and employment services to youth. Funds are distributed by formula to the local areas.
