 BILL NUMBER:  A2024

 TITLE OF BILL :  An act to amend the not-for-profit corporation law,
in relation to the penalty for crematory operations

 PURPOSE :  Increases the penalty for crematory operator that violate
section 1517 of the not-for-profit corporation law.

 SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS :  Section 1: Section 1517 of the
not-for-profit corporation law is amended by adding new subdivision
(k), which makes violation of section 1517 a class E felony.  Section
2: Effective Date.

 JUSTIFICATION :  The death of a loved one is a very trying time for
people. During these times many people put their trust in a crematory
operator to respectfully cremate the dead. When crematory operator
violates this trust it makes the loss of a loved one even worse.
Currently, there are no penalties for the violation of a crematoriums
duties and obligations. This legislation rectifies this by making it a
class E felony for a crematory operator to violate the duties and
obligation set forth in section 1517 of the not-for-profit corporation
law.

 FISCAL IMPLICATIONS : None.

 EFFECTIVE DATE :  This act shall take effect on the 180th day after
it shall become a law.
