  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to requiring one voting member of the metropolitan transportation authority be a transit dependent individual   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends subparagraph 1 of paragraph a of subdivision 1 of section 1263 of the public authorities law, as amended by section 1 of part R of chapter 49 of the laws of 2019 to require that one of the five voting members other than the chair appointed by the governor without recommendation from any other person must be a "transit dependent indi- vidual" as defined in the subdivision. Section 2 provides the effective date   JUSTIFICATION: The U.S. Census Bureau estimates about 930,100 people in New York City have a disability yet only 25 percent of the Bubway's 493 stations are accessible for people with disabilities.
