  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the education law, in relation to supplemental educa- tional improvement plan grants   PURPOSE: This bill captures regional cost indexes in calculating SEIP grants.   SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section I of this bill amends Paragraph B of Subdivision 8 of Section 3641 of the Education Law, as amended by Section 29 of Part B of Chapter 57 of the laws of 2008 to read as follows: To the Yonkers City School District there shall be paid seventeen million five hundred thousand dollars multiplied by such District's regional cost index.   JUSTIFICATION: Regional cost indexes were recently adopted under the State's new Foun- dation Aid formula for public education. Certain school districts, however, may also receive. SEIP grants, which are designed to provide additional State funds for the continuation of programs and services under a court ordered plan.         AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation  to  supplemental  educa-
          tional improvement plan grants
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Paragraph b of subdivision 8 of section 3641 of the  educa-
     2  tion  law,  as amended by section 29 of part B of chapter 57 of the laws
     3  of 2008, is amended to read as follows:
     4    b. To the Yonkers city school district there shall be  paid  seventeen
     5  million  five  hundred thousand dollars ($17,500,000) multiplied by such
     6  district's regional cost index, pursuant to subparagraph  two  of  para-
     7  graph  a  of  subdivision four of section thirty-six hundred two of this
     8  article, on an annual basis.   Such grant shall be  payable  from  funds
     9  appropriated  for  such  purpose and shall be apportioned to the Yonkers
    10  city school district in accordance with the payment schedules  contained
    11  in  section  thirty-six  hundred nine-a of this article, notwithstanding
    12  any provision of law to the contrary.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
