NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY
MEMORANDUM IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION
submitted in accordance with Assembly Rule III, Sec 1(f)

BILL NUMBER: A9820

SPONSOR: Woerner
TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to "International Snowmo- bile Ride Day"   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To memorialize and recognize the positive impacts Snowmobile riding has, on both family and friends in New York State during the winter months, by naming the second Saturday in February every year as "International Snowmobile Ride Day."   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Subdivision 3 of Section 168-a of the Executive law is amended to add "the second Saturday in February to be known as Interna- tional Snowmobile Ride Day." § 2 establishes the effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: Winter can be one of the most beautiful seasons, however, many people do not get the opportunity to experience winter to the fullest because of weather limitations. The designation of International Snowmobile Ride Day would be a great way to allow people the chance to explore winter at its best. Snowmobiling is fun, easy to learn, and for all ages. More- over, snowmobile riding is a very effective way for families to spend the day together, for friends to plan a trip to be with one another again, or for those inside to get out and try something new.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New bill.   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: None.   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.
