AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to expanding the powers
and duties of the community district education council and restricting
the authority of the city board of education of the city of New York
to co-locate schools
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 2590-e of the education law is amended by adding a
2 new subdivision 22 to read as follows:
3 22. Approve or reject all proposals to co-locate a school within their
4 district prior to a city board vote.
5 § 2. Subdivision 1 of section 2590-g of the education law is amended
6 by adding a new paragraph (i) to read as follows:
7 (i) the city board shall not vote on any proposal to co-locate a
8 school unless the community district education council has previously
9 voted to approve such proposal at a regular meeting or special meeting.
10 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that
11 the amendments to sections 2590-e and 2590-g of the education law made
12 by sections one and two of this act, respectively, shall not affect the
13 expiration of such sections and shall be deemed to expire therewith.
