AN ACT to establish the college of renewable energy and sustainability
in the city university of New York
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. (a) The trustees of the city university of New York are
2 hereby authorized and directed to immediately take all actions, in
3 conjunction with the chancellor of the city university of New York, to
4 create and establish within the city university of New York system, and
5 subject to the jurisdiction of such board of trustees, a college of
6 renewable energy and sustainability to be located near the JFK Interna-
7 tional Airport in Jamaica, borough of Queens.
8 (b) Such board of trustees shall select the location of such college
9 within Jamaica and provide for such college to be an accessible, afford-
10 able, competitive, four-year, bachelor's level, degree-granting college
11 of the city university.
12 (c) The purpose of this college of renewable energy and sustainability
13 shall be to offer majors to be determined by such board of trustees
14 relating to the field of renewable energy and sustainability.
15 (d) Such board of trustees shall establish standards and promulgate
16 any necessary rules and regulations for the establishment of such
17 college pursuant to article one hundred twenty-five of the education
18 law.
19 § 2. The chancellor of the city university of New York shall set the
20 curriculum and the academic policies for such college as described in
21 section one of this act.
22 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
