TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to the
designation of the Niagara Wine Trail Ridge and the Niagara Wine Trail
Lake
 
PURPOSE OF THE BILL:
To re-designate and reconfigure the "Niagara Escarpment Wine Trail", and
the "Niagara Wine Trail" into the "Niagara Wine Trail Ridge" and the
"Niagara Wine Trail Lake".
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Amends subdivision 7-a of section 343-k of the highway law.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The "Niagara Wine Trail" has been extremely successful in helping
Niagara County wineries attract customers since its inception. This new
reconfiguration and extension eastward will draw new attention to the
trail and will serve to attract additional visitors to it. In addition,
since the creation of the Niagara Wine Trail, several wineries have
already opened or are in the development stages along the route. This
new extension eastward will attract additional wineries to open instal-
lations along the trail.

AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to the designation of the
Niagara Wine Trail Ridge and the Niagara Wine Trail Lake
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The section heading and subdivision 7-a of section 343-k of
2 the highway law, as amended by chapter 215 of the laws of 2007, are
3 amended to read as follows:
4 Portions of the state highway system to be designated as the "Chautau-
5 qua Wine Trail", the "Canandaigua Wine Trail", the "Cayuga Wine Trail
6 East", the "Cayuga Wine Trail West", the "Seneca Lake Wine Trail East",
7 the "Seneca Lake Wine Trail West", the "Keuka Lake Wine Trail", the
8 "Shawangunk Wine Trail", the "Dutchess Wine Trail", the "North Fork Wine
9 Trail", the "Hamptons Wine Trail", the "Long Island Wine Region", the
10 "Niagara [Escarpment] Wine Trail Ridge", the "Niagara Wine Trail Lake"
11 and the "Lake Ontario Wine Trail".
12 7-a. All those portions of the state and local highway system consti-
13 tuting route 104 from the intersection with route 62, Ferry Avenue in
14 the city of Niagara Falls, eastward to the intersection with route [269,
15 County Line Road, in the town of Hartland, then northward on route 269
16 to the intersection with route 18, Lake Road, in the town of Somerset,
17 shall be known as the "Niagara Escarpment Wine Trail."] 390 in Monroe
18 county shall be known as the "Niagara Wine Trail Ridge."
19 All those portions of the state and local highway system constituting
20 Route 269 from the intersection of Route 104 North to route 18, Lake
21 Road, [from the intersection with route 269, County Line Road,] in the
22 town of Somerset, westward to the intersection with route 425, Lake

1 Street, in the village of Wilson, southward on route 425 to the inter-
2 section with route 62, Niagara Falls Boulevard, in the town of Wheat-
3 field, southward on route 62 to the intersection with I-290, the Young-
4 man Memorial Highway, in the town of Amherst, shall be known as the
5 "Niagara Wine Trail Lake."
6 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
