Section 4 is the effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: For many people on the Alzheimer's journey most of the time it feels like a roller coaster of ups and downs. Alzheimer's not only has a traumatic effect on the person diag- nosed with this disease but it takes its toll on family members who have to care for their loved one. As New Yorkers, we need to stick together and fight this dreadful disease and find a cure. Until this day comes, we must educate the public through community outreach and awareness. This bill would establish a distinctive Alzheimer's Awareness license plate and provide a funding stream for the State's Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Fund. This fund promotes public awareness and education about Alzheimer's. While many families have lost a love one or know someone with Alzheimer's, the family of the late Joe Savino from Staten island who lost his life to Alzheimer's believe awareness, education and research is the key in combating this disease. To accomplish this goal, creating a New York State distinctive Alzheimer's Awareness license plate is a positive step toward raising funds and public awareness of this terrible disease.   LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New Bill.   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None.   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.
