AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring the state to
pay down the gap elimination adjustment
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subdivision 17 of section 3602 of the education law is
2 amended by adding two new paragraphs g and h to read as follows:
3 g. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the gap elimination
4 adjustment for the two thousand fourteen--two thousand fifteen school
5 year shall equal fifty percent (0.50) of the gap elimination adjustment
6 for such district for the two thousand thirteen--thousand fourteen
7 school year, except for school districts which have been designated by
8 the state comptroller as fiscally distressed for calendar year two thou-
9 sand thirteen. For such fiscally distressed school districts the gap
10 elimination adjustment shall be zero.
11 h. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the gap elimination
12 adjustment for the two thousand fifteen--two thousand sixteen school
13 year shall equal zero.
14 § 2. This act shall take effect April 1, 2014.
