         HEIMER  --  read  twice  and  ordered  printed, and when printed to be
         committed to the Committee on Health

       AN ACT to amend chapter 192 of the laws of 2011, relating to authorizing
         certain health care professionals licensed to practice in other juris-
         dictions to practice in this state in connection with an  event  sanc-
         tioned  by  New  York  Road  Runners,  in  relation  to  extending the
         provisions thereof

         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

    1    Section 1. Sections 1 and 2 of chapter 192 of the laws of 2011, relat-
    2  ing  to  authorizing certain health care professionals licensed to prac-
    3  tice in other jurisdictions to practice in this state in connection with
    4  an event sanctioned by New York Road Runners,  is  amended  to  read  as
    5  follows:
    6    Section  1.  Notwithstanding  any  inconsistent  provision of law, any
    7  person who is licensed to practice as a physician,  physician's  assist-
    8  ant, massage therapist, physical therapist, chiropractor, dentist, opto-
    9  metrist, nurse, nurse practitioner, certified athletic trainer or podia-
   10  trist  in  another  state  or territory, who is in good standing in such
   11  state or territory and who has been  appointed  by  the  New  York  Road
   12  Runners to provide professional services at an event in this state sanc-
   13  tioned  by  the  New  York  Road  Runners, may provide such professional
   14  services to athletes  and  team  personnel  registered  to  train  at  a
   15  location  in  this  state or registered to compete in an event conducted
   16  under the sanction of the New York Road Runners  in  the  state  without
   17  first being licensed pursuant to the provisions of title 8 of the educa-
   18  tion  law. Such services shall be provided only four days before through
   19  one day after each of the following events:
   20    a. the Queens half marathon scheduled to be held on  [July  30,  2011]
   21  JULY 1, 2012;
   22    b.  the  Bronx half marathon scheduled to be held on [August 27, 2011]
   23  AUGUST 12, 2012;

        EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                             [ ] is old law to be omitted.

    1    c. the Staten Island half marathon scheduled to be held on [October 9,
    2  2011] OCTOBER 7, 2012;
    3    d. the ING New York city marathon scheduled to be held on [November 6,
    4  2011] NOVEMBER 4, 2012; [and]
    5    e.  the  Manhattan  half  marathon scheduled to be held on January 21,
    6  2012;
    7    F. THE BROOKLYN HALF MARATHON SCHEDULED TO BE HELD ON  MAY  19,  2012;
    8  AND
    9    G. THE NEW YORK HALF MARATHON SCHEDULED TO BE HELD ON MARCH 18, 2012.
   10    S  2.  This  act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
   11  deemed repealed January 31, [2012] 2013.
