        Introduced by Sens. MARCELLINO, LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered print-
          ed,  and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education --
          committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as  amended  and
          recommitted to said committee
 
        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to delaying the implemen-
          tation  of  regents examinations based on the common core state stand-

          ards until the 2021-2022 school year
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 208-b
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 208-b. Common core state standards initiative.  Notwithstanding  any
     4  provision  of  law  to  the contrary, the department shall not implement
     5  regents examinations based on the New York state P-12 common core learn-
     6  ing standards (CCLS) developed by the common core state standards initi-
     7  ative until the two thousand twenty-one--two thousand twenty-two  school
     8  year.  Any action taken to adopt or implement regents examinations based
     9  on the common core state standards prior to that school year are void.

    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
