AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to limiting the
sale of ammunition
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new article
2 38-B to read as follows:

4 SALE OF AMMUNITION
5 Section 825. Sale of ammunition; limited.
6 § 825. Sale of ammunition; limited. 1. No retail dealer shall sell or
7 transfer more than five hundred rounds of any ammunition to any person
8 during any period of thirty days.
9 2. No person shall purchase or receive more than five hundred rounds
10 of any ammunition during any period of thirty days.
11 3. The provisions of subdivisions one and two of this section shall
12 not apply to any shooting range, police office, law enforcement or
13 corrections agency, members of the armed forces of the United States or
14 national guard, or licensed firearms dealers.
15 4. Upon each sale of ammunition by a retail dealer, such dealer shall
16 record the name, address, date of birth and telephone number of the
17 purchaser, and the quantity, manufacturer, type and caliber or gauge of
18 the ammunition purchased.
19 5. Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be
20 guilty of a class A misdemeanor.
21 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed-
22 ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
