BYRNE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Local Governments AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to barring persons who commit grand larceny from service award programs for volunteer firefighters The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision (m) of section 217 of the general municipal 2 law, as added by chapter 617 of the laws of 1995, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 (m) A participant who is convicted of the crime of arson or grand 5 larceny in any degree as defined in the penal law shall not be eligible 6 to receive benefits from a service award program and shall forfeit any 7 and all rights he or she may have had to past or future benefits pursu- 8 ant to a service award program. 9 § 2.
