AN ACT relating to resuming the play of interscholastic sports during
the COVID-19 pandemic and requiring safety protocols to be put in
place to enable safe play of such sports
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law, rule or regulation
2 to the contrary, the commissioner of education shall immediately author-
3 ize the practice and play of all interscholastic sports which have been
4 postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19. The commissioner of education,
5 in consultation with the commissioner of health, shall adopt necessary
6 rules and regulations and provide a process and procedure to ensure that
7 proper COVID-19 safety protocols are followed to enable the safe play of
8 such interscholastic sports.
9 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
