        Introduced  by  Sen. REICHLIN-MELNICK -- read twice and ordered printed,
          and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes
 
        AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation  to  criminal  possession  of
          semiautomatic rifles, shotguns and pistols by persons under the age of
          twenty-one
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 265.01 of the penal law is amended by adding a  new
     2  subdivision 11 to read as follows:
     3    (11)  He or she possesses a semiautomatic rifle, a semiautomatic shot-
     4  gun or a semiautomatic  pistol  defined  in  subdivision  twenty-one  of
     5  section  265.00 of this article and is under the age of twenty-one years
     6  old, except if he or she was over the age of eighteen prior  to  January
     7  first, two thousand twenty-three.
     8    § 2. Section 265.10 of the penal law is amended by adding a new subdi-
     9  vision 9 to read as follows:
    10    9.  Any  person who disposes of any semiautomatic rifle, semiautomatic
    11  shotgun or semiautomatic pistol defined  in  subdivision  twenty-one  of
    12  section  265.00  of  this  article  to any other person under the age of
    13  twenty-one years is guilty of a class A misdemeanor  unless  such  other
    14  person was over the age of eighteen prior to January first, two thousand
    15  twenty-three.
    16    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
