Ra Announces Scholarship Opportunity For New York Students

Today, Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) announced that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is now accepting applications for four $2,500 scholarships to be awarded in June at Italian-American Day. Scholarship winners must be present to receive their awards.

“It is no secret that the ever-increasing cost of college has caused great financial difficulty for families across New York State,” said Ra. “That being said, I believe it is critical for local students to take advantage of all possible opportunities to receive financial aid as they pursue a higher education. I am encouraging all students in our community to apply for these prestigious scholarships.”

This year, the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators will be awarding four $2,500 scholarships to four current or future college students from New York State. Eligibility will be based on a student’s grade point average, interest in pursuing a higher education, involvement in the local community, and individual financial need.

“Our Conference proudly promotes the importance of higher education by offering these scholarships to deserving students in New York,” continued Ra. “I wish all applicants in our area the best of luck, and I look forward to meeting this year’s recipients in Albany at Italian-American Day in June.”

Area students may request an application by contacting Assemblyman Ra’s district office at (516) 535-4095 or by emailing rae@assembly.state.ny.us.
