Assemblyman Weprin Donated More Than 220 Gifts to Governor Mario & Matilda Raffa Cuomo HeartShare First Step Early Childhood Center

Queens, NY – Assemblyman David I. Weprin (D-Fresh Meadows) held a major toy drive drop-off event on Monday, December 22nd, at the Governor Mario & Matilda Raffa Cuomo HeartShare First Step Early Childhood Center in Richmond Hill. The toy drive, which began in late November, was to benefit children with special needs. By mid-December of 2014, with an extraordinary show of support and compassion from many community organizations, schools, and residents, the goal of “one gift for every child with special needs” was met and exceeded by more than 50 gifts; totaling around 230 new and used toys, books, book bags, and various school supplies.

“I am extremely thrilled to have had this opportunity to bring smiles to these wonderful kids at the Cuomo HeartShare Center,” said Assembly Member Weprin. “I sincerely thank the many community members who came together in an effort to make this holiday season a very special one for these small angels. I would like to also thank the educators, administrators, and staff members at the Governor Mario & Matilda Cuomo HeartShare First Step Early Childhood Center for their outstanding work and dedication for their students.”
