Assemblyman Zebrowski on the Passage of the 2014-15 State Budget

"Today, the State Legislature passed a fourth consecutive on-time budget that is both fiscally responsible and makes important investments. This budget addresses critical issues such as reform of the common core implementation, increased education funding, property tax relief, ethics reform and economic development. I have fought hard during this budget process to bring home results that work for the residents of Rockland County. The final budget will increase education aid by the largest amount in five years and bring the total investment to over $22 billion; the highest level in history. This budget will bring an additional $17 million to Rockland County schools through restoration of the Gap Elimination Adjustment and an increase in foundation aid.

“This budget will also bring economic development and tax relief to homeowners and businesses. Under the tax freeze program, municipalities will be incentivized to keep property tax increases down and will provide residents a tax credit to freeze their taxes for up to two years. The budget includes assistance to help create and retain jobs by providing a reduction in the corporate tax rate, a real property tax credit and a targeted manufacturing tax cut that I fought hard to get expanded to Rockland County. These tax relief efforts will help keep taxes down for residents, create jobs and attract new businesses to the county."
