2nd Annual Veterans’ Fishing Day at Webster Pond

Assembly Magnarelli helps sponsor event for VA Hospital patients

Dozens of veterans and their families will spend Tuesday, June 4 fishing at Webster Pond, 2004 Valley Drive in Syracuse. “The event is quite inspirational,” said Chad Norton, vice president of the Anglers Association of Onondaga. “Last year we had a gentleman with full prosthetic limbs fly fishing.” The event is put on by the Webster Pond Association as a way of thanking our veterans for their service. About 20 to 30 VA Hospital residents are expected to partake in the event, usually with the help of an aide or a family member. “I’m happy to be helping to support such a wonderful event which gives local veterans the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful resources we have in our community,” said Assemblyman William Magnarelli, D-Syracuse. “Fishing is a pastime many veterans enjoy but are unable to schedule as they are recovering from their physical ailments. I applaud the Anglers Association for their effort to bring veterans to Webster Pond to enjoy a day of fishing and picnicking.”
