Palmesano Announces Italian-American Legislators Scholarship

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) today announced that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is now accepting applications for four $2,500 scholarships to be awarded in June at its Annual Conference Weekend.

“As the cost of a higher education continues to skyrocket, scholarship programs like this one can make all the difference in the world for a hardworking student,” said Palmesano. “I encourage all interested students to apply so they can offset costs for themselves and their families.”

This year, the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators will be awarding four $2,500 scholarships to four current or future college students from New York State.

Two academic and two athletic scholarships will be awarded in June. Eligibility will be based upon the student’s grade point average, interest in pursuing a higher education, involvement in the local community and individual financial need.

“The Conference of Italian-American-State Legislators is very proud of its role in promoting higher education. This program has helped many students secure their dreams and achieve their goals. I’m very happy to be affiliated with such a great cause,” said Palmesano.

This year’s recipients will be invited to Albany to receive their scholarship awards in June. Scholarship winners must be present to receive their awards.

Students in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions can receive a scholarship application by contacting Palmesano’s office at (607) 776-9691.
