Johns Sends Good Wishes To Army National Guard Troops

Assemblyman joins community in sending off 185 area soldiers deployed to Kuwait

Assemblyman Mark Johns (R,C-Webster) joined members of the community Saturday, January 28 to express their thanks and well wishes to 185 New York Army National Guard soldiers en route to Mississippi for training prior to a formal deployment to Kuwait.

“I am truly proud of these brave men and women for the love and commitment which they demonstrate here at home and abroad as proud members of our armed forces,” said Johns. “May they be protected as they carry out this important mission. I cannot thank them enough for their service to our community and our nation.”

The soldiers will train for their mission at Camp Shelby then will be mobilized to Kuwait in April. They are expected to be on federal active duty for up to 12 months as the Army continues to review and reduce forces needed overseas.

The deployed soldiers are members of Rochester’s New York Army National Guard Headquarters Company A of the 427th Brigade Support Battalion and Company A of the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment.
