On April 4, 2010, Assemblywoman Corwin met with women from the eight women’s funds across the state at the state Capitol to discuss the state of women living in New York, as well as to raise awareness about the shocking statistic that two out of every three households living in poverty are headed by women. Assemblywoman Corwin introduced representatives from the various women’s funds to the Assembly Chamber, including Ana L. Oliveira, President and CEO of the New York Women’s Foundation, Brigid Dougherty, Executive Director of Western New York Women’s Fund, and Jane Griffin, PhD, of the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, who is an advisory board member of the Western New York chapter.
