Goodell Sponsors Summer Reading Challenge For Local Children

Assemblyman encourages teaching children joy of literature

Assemblyman Andy Goodell (R,C – Chautauqua County) is sponsoring a summer reading challenge for local children while school is adjourned for the summer. The brochures were distributed to local schools and libraries and are available both online and through hard copy. “It is vital to teach our children the benefits and joys of reading at a young age to foster a lifelong love of literature,” said Goodell. “The summer reading program encourages children to spend these summer months making new friends and acquaintances within the pages of the greatest works of art penned through the generations. I encourage the children, parents and families of Chautauqua County to take part in this fantastic program.” Children that spend time reading for 40 days during July and August will receive a New York State Assembly “Excellence in Reading” Certificate from Assemblyman Goodell. Brochures can be obtained from many local libraries, or by contacting the Assemblyman’s district office at: Fenton Building
