Assemblywoman Russell on the Extension of Unemployment Benefits
May 19, 2009
“The extension of unemployment benefits is a necessity in this economic climate. We are experiencing abnormally high unemployment rates in the North Country. The prospects of even obtaining seasonal employment are poor. This funding, set aside for employees who are ready, willing and able to work but have lost their employment through no fault of their own, will allow dislocated workers additional time to find jobs. This extension funded by federal stimulus money will provide unemployment benefits for an additional 13 weeks.”
