Honors Gwendolyn May Bernice Livingston Acheson for her service in WAVES during WWII

Assemblywoman Addie Russell will present a special proclamation to Gwendolyn May Bernice Livingston Acheson, who was a member of the hospital corps of the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service –WAVES, during World War II. WAVES provided significant opportunities for women to serve in the United State Navy.
The ceremony will be on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 2:00PM at the Philadelphia Historical Society, 64 Main Street in Philadelphia, NY.
June 12th has been proclaimed as Women’s Veterans’ Recognition Day in the State of New York by Governor David Paterson.
