Assemblywoman Russell: Ask an expert and save money on home repairs
September 28, 2009
Assemblywoman Addie J. Russell (D-Theresa) is informing North Country residents that the New York State Consumer Protection Board will be hosting its first “Ask the Expert” call-in day on Sept. 30. Home improvement professionals will be on hand by telephone to answer questions and give advice about contractors, government assistance for projects, and general home improvement, including additions and remodels, concrete, electrical work, painting, plumbing, roofing, heating and cooling, and more. “Home repairs can be complicated and costly,” Assemblywoman Russell said. “In these tough economic times, more families are tackling home improvement projects on their own in an effort to save money. The ‘Ask the Expert’ program will provide these families with the knowledge and resources they need to finish these projects the right way, making their homes safer and more valuable.” All residents can call toll-free at (888)351-4648 with their questions. Phone lines will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you miss this opportunity you can always E-mail your home improvement questions to AskTheExpert@consumer.state.ny.us. Questions will be reviewed for appropriateness by the CPB, answered by the New York State Builders Association (NYSBA) and subsequently posted on the CPB Web site at www.nysconsumer.gov/default.htm.
