In 1967 the Watertown Urban Mission was formed in a spirit of ecumenism in Watertown. Part of the regular, worthwhile work of the Urban Mission is to supply food to those that are in need. They do this on a non sectarian basis.
In addition to food the Urban Mission provides emergency help for those with an immediate essential need such as household furnishings, clothing, prescriptions, transportation and infant formula.
During budget negotiations earlier this year Assemblywoman Addie Russell was able to secure an individual initiative item in the amount of $7,500 for a much needed walk-in refrigerator/freezer. The Assemblywoman said, "I am very pleased that the Assembly honored my request for a significant contribution to a wonderful organization that has done outstanding work for decades."
Assemblywoman Russell presented a symbolic check to Mary Morgan the Executive Director and Susan Snell the Board President.
