Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence Executive Director JoAnne Sanders, Assemblyman Al Graf, and Coalition President Eric S. Fishon gather at the headquarters’ ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“Domestic violence destroys lives and families on Long Island and across the country,” said Graf. “Victims feel desperate, afraid and alone, which makes it nearly impossible to escape the cycle of abuse. That’s why the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence is so vital to our community. For 36 years, they have provided physical and emotional support to the victims of domestic violence that need a helping hand. I am certain that this new facility will help them continue their sterling track record of service for years to come.”
The Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s mission is “to assist and help empower victims of domestic violence through provision of a wide range of services and to work toward the prevention of domestic violence.” They offer shelter for victims, information on legal rights and prevention tips, counseling, a 24-hour hotline, and a myriad of other services.
