Graf: Assembly Majority Doing Nothing To Help New York’s Students

A statement from Assemblyman Al Graf (R,C,I-Holbrook)
April 22, 2015
“While New York’s students are suffering through another round of unnecessary and harmful testing, my Assembly colleagues and I put a bill in front of the Education Committee to put a freeze on Common Core and the exhaustive testing associated with it. I am appalled the Assembly Majority members on the committee blocked the bill from coming up for a vote. The Majority has continued to put politics before our children, and I do not understand why they continue to hurt them. At best, they are playacting by introducing a bill to authorize the right of parents to opt-out of testing in an attempt to hide the fact that they voted to continue that testing. Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) and I are trying to lead what needs to be a bipartisan movement to improve the quality of education in New York State. It is time for the rest of the Assembly to get on board – our children deserve it and our parents demand it.”
