Raia Joins LaPierre And Friends For Sportsmen Event
January 12, 2010
Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,I,C-East Northport) today joined with conservation, hunting, and firearms-rights advocates from around New York State to stand up for the Second Amendment. The first annual Sportsmen and Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day, sponsored by the Assembly Minority Conference, was held in Albany Tuesday and featured National Rifle Association CEO & Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre as its keynote speaker. Outdoors enthusiasts and groups in attendance, including the Sportsmen’s Association for Firearms Education, Inc. (S.A.F.E.) and Suffolk Alliance of Sportsmen, had the opportunity to network with other sportsmen as well as meet with their elected officials. “I’d like to thank Wayne LaPierre for speaking at today’s event as well as S.A.F.E. President John Cushman for meeting with me,” said Raia. “Sportsmen need our support; the Long Island economy needs sportsmen. Each year, outdoor activities like hunting and fishing generate over $1 billion for our state. As a gun owner, I will continue to fight for Second Amendment rights in the legislature and support those that keep the sportsman tradition strong in the Empire State.” S.A.F.E. is affiliated with the National Rifle Association of America as well as the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. The group’s headquarters is Commack, NY.
