Raia Presents Medals To Veteran

Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,I,C-East Northport) recently presented a New York veteran with the state’s highest military medals. John Gilmartin, U.S. Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, among other military commendations, was honored at the VFW Elwood/Commack Post 9263 with the Conspicuous Service Cross and the Conspicuous Service Star. Post members were on hand to participate in the ceremony. Gilmartin, 64, is a resident of East Northport who received an honorable discharge from military service.

“On behalf of all New Yorkers, I would like to thank Mr. Gilmartin for his service to our country,” said Raia. “The Conspicuous Service Star and Cross are the Empire State’s highest military awards, and they go to a man who served bravely and honorably. I am happy to see John Gilmartin recognized for his invaluable contribution to the greatest traditions of our great nation.”
