Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,I,C – East Northport) is encouraging his constituents to participate in Free Fishing Weekend, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26, throughout New York State. Sponsored by the state Department of Environmental Conservation, this annual event allows anyone to fish the fresh or marine waters of New York without a license.
“We have some great venues to take advantage of during Free Fishing weekend,” said Raia. “First-time anglers, as well as those who fish frequently, should take advantage of this opportunity to see how much fun fishing can be.”
The DEC also sponsors a number of free fishing clinics throughout the summer. To find where the nearest fishing clinic is, visit http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/27123.html. As always, anyone having legislative concerns can contact the Assemblyman’s office at 631-261-4151 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
“I hope that anyone interested takes advantage of this free weekend,” said Raia. “Annual fishing licenses could cost a family upwards of $100. It is the perfect time to get family and friends together and enjoy the great outdoors without worrying about costs.”
