Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,I,C – East Northport) is encouraging residents of Suffolk County to take advantage of extended hours at local parks and swimming facilities. Governor Cuomo today announced that the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will begin extended hours today through Saturday evening.
“This weather should not be taken lightly,” said Raia. “Residents need to stay inside or take advantage of the extended hours at our local parks and beaches. I cannot think of a better place to be on a scorching hot summer day than one of our Long Island beaches or parks.”
On Long Island, ocean beaches and parks included in the extended hours are Jones Beach, including the swimming pool; Sunken Meadow and Hither Hills State Parks, which will remain open until 8:30 pm.
The Assemblyman also noted that additional parks may be offering extended hours and to check the Parks Department website, www.nysparks.com. If there are any questions or concerns, residents can call the Assemblyman’s office at 631-261-4151.
