Garbarino, Colleagues To Governor: All Children Are Created Equal
Members launch petition at bit.ly/LISchools for fair share of school aid
January 30, 2013

In response to Governor Cuomo’s 2013-2014 Executive Budget proposal to redistribute school aid away from Long Island schools and redirect the funding to other districts, Assemblyman Andrew Garbarino (R,C,I-Sayville) and other members of the Long Island Assembly Minority Delegation have taken a stand. Garbarino and his colleagues launched a petition at http://bit.ly/LISchools urging Governor Cuomo to give Long Island students their fair share of school aid.

Under the governor’s current proposal, Long Island students would receive an average of $66 in new funding per student, far below the statewide average of $119 and the New York City average of $129 per student.

"Long Island's students are second to none, and we cannot afford to gamble with their future," said Assemblyman Andrew Garbarino (R,C,I-Sayville). "The governor's distribution of school aid is simply unacceptable, and I believe that if we all band together, our voice will be heard and our children will get their fair share."
