Goodell, Resource Center Advocate For Disability Services

Assemblyman Andy Goodell (R,C,I-Chautauqua) recently met with clients and staff from The Resource Center (TRC) in Chautauqua County who visited the Capitol in Albany to advocate for developmental disability services. The TRC representatives visited the governor’s office to deliver a video and 300 letters protesting the governor's plan to cut $120 million in funding to agencies that support people with developmental disabilities.

“Although New York State is facing a difficult budget deficit, it is essential that state government make the decisions needed to protect important services for our most vulnerable citizens,” said Goodell. “Our fiscal reality demands that we spend within our means, but by no means is the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities an acceptable area from which to reduce funds. The programs funded by this office are critical to the residents and consumers at the Resource Center who rely on the top-notch services our local caregivers provide. I am proud to stand with them in their grassroots efforts to prevent these ill-conceived budget cuts.”
