Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,C-Greenwood Lake) today announced the Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) will award grants to Rockland County-based nonprofit organizations and artists through its Community Arts Grants (CAG) program.
Rabbitt said the program is funded by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program. Grant money will assist with payment of artist fees, marketing costs, direct administrative expenses and other direct arts-related expenses.
"I’m pleased to announce availability of these important grants, which will help the local arts scene and our artists flourish," Rabbitt said. "The arts community is a valuable component of our way of life in the Hudson Valley, and I commend the New York State Council on the Arts and ACOR for making this funding available."
Rabbitt said grants will be awarded for projects in 2006 that:
- provide quality arts programming to the entire Rockland community
- assist emerging arts organizations
- support the cultural expression of Rockland’s diverse ethnic groups
- make arts programming accessible to under-served and minority audiences.
Rabbitt noted that eight informational meetings will be held during June, July and August.
Applications are due by 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15.
For more information or a complete list of meeting dates, call ACOR at (845) 426-3660 or visit their web site.
