Rabbitt: Art Exhibit Encourages Young Contestants
Art teachers’ association sponsors “Who I Am” exhibit for young New Yorkers
November 12, 2009

Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,I,C-Greenwood Lake) today encouraged art educators in the mid-Hudson Valley to select two outstanding examples of visual artwork from their students for the 2010 Legislative Student Art Exhibit, running from February 22 to 26, in Albany. The submission deadline for the works is December 16, 2009, and is limited to two art pieces per teacher, per school. All submissions must be two-dimensional and not larger than 26 inches by 30 inches, including the mat or mounting. There is a $25 registration fee for each teacher, which must be paid online. Art students from kindergarten through twelfth grade are eligible, and this year’s optional theme for entrants is “Who I Am.”

“Great art speaks to our individual humanity like no other medium,” said Rabbitt. “The 2010 Legislative Student Art Exhibit is a wonderful opportunity for young artists to have their work shown and art educators to showcase some of the most creative minds in the Hudson Valley. I encourage teachers to send in their submissions today in order to meet the December 16 deadline. And to the young art students of Orange and Rockland counties I say, ‘See you in Albany’!”
