Despite the rain, the 34th annual Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Parade was a wonderful success. I would like to thank and congratulate the parade committee, especially Megan Mollahan, Kevin Moore, Mary Luciana, Donna Goff and Bill O’Donnell, as well as all the participating organizations, clubs, sponsors, officials and law enforcement that made this event so memorable.
It warmed my heart to see so many residents lining the parade route and coming out to join the festivities of this day marking an important aspect of our local, state and national heritage. Although we come from many backgrounds, it is so wonderful to see our community coming together in such a happy and welcoming manner.
As I have said many times before, it is this “welcome with open arms” feeling that makes me so proud to be a resident of our community. My pride is heightened by the fact that I am privileged to serve as your voice in Albany and I fight every day, rain or shine, to improve our quality of life.
St. Patrick’s Day celebrates the Irish-American tradition and contribution in our great state’s history; but it also celebrates family, togetherness and community. Thank you again to everyone who came out for the parade and to all those whose hard work made parade day such a special day for me personally, and our community as a whole. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all and here’s wishing everyone many years of health, happiness and a bit of Irish luck!
