Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,C,I – Greenwood Lake) has been appointed to serve on the 2010-11 Budget Committee on General Government/Local Assistance. This position will allow the Assemblywoman to be part of the bipartisan negotiations on finalizing this portion of the 2010-11 State Budget.
“I was honored to be asked to serve on this committee, especially because Albany’s pattern of irresponsible spending is often shoved off onto our local governments. Without their due financial support from Albany and with increased mandates, our local governments have no choice but to raise taxes: sales taxes, property taxes. This pattern has to end, and I look forward to serving as a voice of reason on this committee to remind its other members of the importance of alleviating the tax burden,” said Assemblywoman Rabbitt, who already is the Ranking Minority Member of the Assembly Standing Committee on Local Governments.
