Rabbitt Meets With Local Student To Prepare For Student Leadership Conference & Mock Debate
April 21, 2010

Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,C,I-Greenwood Lake) welcomed students participating in the 20th Annual PR/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute’s leadership conference and mock debate, including local student Marelim Tlacoapa (pictured above far right) who represented the assemblywoman in the mock debate.

“It is always a pleasure to welcome such bright and passionate students to our state Capitol and to sit down with them to discuss one-on-one the pressing issues facing our state and to hear the issues that are most important to them. I was very impressed with Marelim and welcome her back to ‘represent’ me any time,” said the assemblywoman.

A senior at Middletown High School, Marelim Tlacoapa was among the students who traveled to Albany from the Mid-Hudson delegation of Bilingual Education Technical Assistance Center (BETAC), which covers over 5,000 LEP/ELL students attending 83 school districts in six BOCES regions, including Orange-Ulster BOCES. The delegation was escorted by Adolescent Support Specialist Stephen Wendall (not pictured) who also is a resident of the 97th Assembly District.
