Already my office in Goshen is being flooded with responses to the legislative survey I sent to residents across the 97th District. I am thrilled with the phenomenal response and have been personally reading the surveys as they come in. Thank you to all those who are responding – it is vital that we take this opportunity to tell Albany the specific changes we want and need.
It is easy to talk about reform and change. Clearly, our state leaders are in need of both – this week’s waste of a special session is yet another example of how inept our leaders are. However, I have always believed in taking the reins and making things happen, and that’s why I wanted to hear your feedback on some of the hotly debated issues in Albany.
The issues facing our state are multifaceted and complex. Despite the challenges, our leadership in Albany has placed their personal priorities first, ignoring those of the people who elected them, as evidenced by last year’s personal power struggle in the state Senate Majority, or the choice made by some majority leaders this week to stay on vacation rather than return to the Capitol.
There is no excuse for this negligence.
That is why your participation in my legislative survey is so vital. We must take our own action to show these so-called leaders specific reforms we want. We must take back our state. This all starts with you, the public, sharing your thoughts and ideas with me. As I continue to receive your feedback and completed surveys, I will review each one of them personally. I will then compile the results, share them with you, and personally take the results straight to the governor and each legislative leader.
I know we can find consensus and I know we can enact meaningful, responsible, and affordable solutions to solving some of the most intricate problems in our state.
As always, I encourage each one of you to join the discussion. Find me on Facebook or Twitter or send me a personal e-mail at rabbitta@assembly.state.ny.us. Please fill out and return your surveys and if you need a copy, please do not hesitate to contact my Goshen office at 845-291-3631. Let’s send Albany a united message demanding change!
