Tackling State Expenses A Good Start, Need More Tax Relief
A Statement by Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,C,I-Greenwood Lake)
January 5, 2011
The governor’s message today in the State of the State Address was a welcome message of hope and reform, particularly in regards to the way our state is managed and spends taxpayer dollars. However, while I am pleased the governor has pledged to limit tax growth during budget negotiations, I would like to see an immediate push to lower property taxes and rescind the onerous MTA Payroll Tax. Furthermore, without our state taking serious action to create jobs, the future well-being of New Yorkers is at risk. I am excited about working together with Governor Cuomo and my colleagues in both houses toward accomplishing these goals to bring back the vitality of our state’s economy and ensure a prosperous future for the hardworking men and women across the state.
