As part of her Buy Local-Shop Local initiative, Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,C,I-Greenwood Lake) is announcing that farm advocacy groups American Farmland Trust and Planning for Agriculture in New York are offering a free Webinar Series online during the months of June and July.
“There was a time when communities solely relied on local resources and food; we are now seeing a switch back to this practice as the cost of energy continues to rise. Having more options to purchase food and products created locally allows for easier access to organic, healthy foods while helping to bring revenue back to the community,” said Rabbitt. “These webinars will help the community in creating and maintaining local farms.”
The first webinar will focus on local food as revenue-raisers in our communities, and will be held online on June 15 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. On July 20, another webinar event will be held online from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., focusing on the impact of certain local farmland policies.
Pre-registration is required for both webinars. To register, please visit www2.gotomeeting.com, which will help you communicate during the event as well as provide other useful services.
